Spell used by Malfoy during Duelling Club to make Harry dance. Tarantella is dance originating in southern Italy. In its most common modern form it is a flirtatious dance for couples, set to music in 6/8 time, constantly increasing in speed and typically accompanied by castanets and a tambourine. Allegro is a quick lively tempo and also means quickly in Italian.

Thestral,
Invisible animals that are considered unlucky to see, they have dragonish face and neck and a skeletal body of a great black winged horse, they are meat eaters with long pointed fangs, they are attracted to the smell of blood and can only be seen by people who have witness death.

Thickey Janus
Reputed to have been killed by a Lethifold but was discovered five miles away living with the landlady of the Green Dragon. Also namesake of a wing at St. Mungo's. Janus was the two-faced Roman god of doorways beginnings and the rising and setting of the sun. To describe one as Janus-faced is to call him deceitful, which is exactly what this Janus was. Thickey is British slang for an idiot. The inhabitants of the St. Mungo's wing suffer from permanent spell damage. The Janus two-faced aspect possibly references schizophrenia and thickey represents those with diminished mental capacity, see Gilderoy Lockhart.

Thomas, Dean
A Gryffindor; a tall black boy and a fan of soccer who shares a room with Ron and Harry; he is a good artist, and as described in J K Rowlings site (See the link page) there was a lot more history planned for Dean that never make it to the books, including the fact his father was a wizard who was killed by Death Eaters because he refused to join them

Toad
Trevor the toad belonged to Neville Longbottom. Hagrid told Harry in book one that toads were old fashioned as pets. Neville had been raised by his gran, (his mother and father were in St Mungo’s hospital), His Great Uncle Algie gave him it when he heard that Hogwarts had accepted him.

Tonks Andromeda nee Black
Sirius' favourite cousin, Nymphadora Tonks's mother Andromeda is a northern constellation directly south of Cassiopeia between Pegasus and Perseus. In Greek myth she was a princess rescued from a monster by the hero Perseus.

Tonks Nymphadora
Young Auror a member of the Order of the Phoenix, she has a pale heart-shaped face, dark twinkling eyes, and short spiky hair that started out a violent shade of violet Metamorphmagus. Nymphadora is a name clearly intended for a delicate dainty feminine young girl that represents everything Tonks isn't. Nymphs were minor divinities of nature in classical mythology represented as beautiful maidens dwelling in the mountains forests trees and waters. Nymphadora is the name of a Roman martyr. She was a holy virgin who was given martyrdom due to a fearless confession of faith.

Tonks, Ted
Nymphadora's father, a Muggle and very untidy. Tonks is a derivative of the name Tunkes, which is Old English for Thomas. The name itself come from the Greek word Tomas which means twin, it in turn comes from either the aramaic word tyowm or the Hebrew word t'owm.

Ton-Tongue Toffee
A joke candy created by Fred and George Weasley which enlarges the eater's tongue until it weighs a ton.

Tooth-flossing Stringmints
Sweets or Candy that also cleans in between the teeth, Floss with different flavours.

Black family motto French for 'always pure' in regard to the family's pureblood obsession.

Towler Kenneth
A student, probably a Gryffindor, two years ahead of Harry. He had an attack of the boils during his O.W.L.s Not caused by stress as he thought but a prank played on him by Fred and George Weasley.

A spell that changes the nature of a person or object completely, the molecular structure of the object is altered, a class at Hogwarts taught by Professor McGonagall

A magazine for those wizards’ witches and warlocks interested in transfiguration

Transmogrifian Torture
One of the curses Professor Lockhart brags about. Transmogrify means to transform especially in a magical or surprising manner

The international Quidditch team who beat England three hundred and ninety to ten another interesting fact is they have not yet signed the International Ban on Duelling

Trelawney Cassandra
Sibyll Trelawney's great-great-grandmother, Cassandra was a woman from Greek mythology. She was blessed with the gift of prophecy from Apollo but cursed by the lack of power to persuade people.

Trelawney Patricia Sibyll
The crackpot ivination professor, Sibyll Trelawney Divinations professor at Hogwarts; obsessed with dark predictions and death predictions. Hermione gets fed up with her and leaves her class. Ron and Harry think she is crazy. A Sybil was any woman inspired with prophetic power by the god Apollo. The sibyls lived in caves or near streams and prophesied in a frenzied trance usually in Greek hexameters, which were handed down in writing.

Triwizard Cup
The trophy of the Triwizard Tournament. Triwizard Tournament A competition between champions selected from Beauxbatons, Durmstrang, and Hogwarts chosen by the Goblet of Fire. Originally established 700 years ago and meant to be held every five years, but discontinued in recent centuries owing to a high fatality rate. Since the Tour­nament of 1792, when a cockatrice the champions were supposed to be catching went on the rampage, all the Heads of the participating schools are always on the panel. It was resurrected in Harry's fourth year.

Troll
During his youth Hagrid used to go in to the forbidden forest and wrestle these creatures. Gigantic fearsome violent and yet incredibly stupid creatures. Twelve feet tall, trolls skin is a dull, granite grey, a great lumpy body like a boulder with its small bald head perched on top like a coconut. They have short legs thick as tree trunks with flat, horny feet. Known for their unbelievably smell. Armed with a huge wooden club, which dragged along the floor because its arms were so long. In Scandinavian myth trolls are ugly malicious creatures and the enemies of mankind. They are much bigger and stronger than humans and leave their caves only after dark to hunt. If they are exposed to sunlight they will instantly turn to stone. Trolls are very fond of human flesh. In later myths they are roughly the size of humans or elves and thought to be the owners of buried treasures. Professor Quirrell used two trolls as the fifth level of Protection for the Philosophers Stone

Troy
A Chaser on the Irish national Quidditch team. Although we might all be familiar with the legend of Troy and assume that the name comes from there, it doesn't. The Irish name Troy comes from gaelic last name Ó Troighthigh which is an Anglicized form of the name Ó Troightheach meaning “son of a foot soldier”

True Seer
One with the gift of prophecy.

Tubeworms
Harry was forced to scrape the remains of tubeworms off a Desk as a punishment. The term Tubeworm covers a whole range of polychaete worms.

Tutshill
Tutshill is close to Chepstow and is located on the lower slopes of the Severn escarpment and partially within the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. In 1974, the Rowling family moved to Tutshill, near the Welsh border town of Chepstow (in the Forest of Dean) Tutshill is on the English side of the border and across the Severn River from Thornbury, Yate, and the greater Bristol area. Rowling admits to having been a bit of a daydreamer as a child and began writing stories at the age of six. Jo began her senior schooling at Wyedean Comprehensive in Tutshill in 1976.

An Apparation instructor dispatched to Hogwarts. Wilkie old English for strong and resolute protector.
