Janus Thickey Ward
A wing at St. Mungo's. See Janus Thickey. Janus was the two-faced Roman god of doorways beginnings and the rising and setting of the sun. To describe one as Janus-faced is to call him deceitful, which is exactly what this Janus was. Thickey is British slang for an idiot. The inhabitants of the St. Mungo's wing suffer from permanent spell damage. The Janus two-faced aspect possibly references schizophrenia and thickey represents those with diminished mental capacity like the new, and not so, improved Gilderoy Lockhart.

Jelly leg Jinx
A spell to make a persons legs uncontrollably wobbly, making it very hard to stand or walk. Hermione uses the spell to help Harry learn the Shield Charm.

Jelly Slugs
A sweet sold in Honeydukes, slug shaped but hopefully not slug flavoured jellies or jello's. The word Jelly comes from the French word gelee, but it's root is from the Latin word gelasco, to freeze.

A current or former member of the Chudley Cannons.

Jigger Arsenius
Author of Magical Drafts and Potions, Arsenic is a poison, of the chemical element (As) atomic number 33.A trioxid of the element. As2O3. A jigger is a small measure for liquor usually holding 1.5 fl oz.

Johnson, Angelina
A tall black girl who played Chaser on the Gryffindor Quidditch team, her birthday is the week before Halloween, Angelina means little angel, Johnson means the son of John.

Jones, Hestia
A pink-cheeked black-haired witch and a member of the Order of the Phoenix. Hestia is the Greek goddess of the hearth.

Jones, Gwenog
Gwenog Jones is the captain of the Welsh, all-female Quidditch team, the Holyhead Harpies. She was one of Horace Slughorn's all-time favourite students. She gives him free tickets whenever he wants. She was born in 1969 and was possible one of the last students in Slughorns club as he retired in 1980
There is a church dedicated to St Gwenog in Llanwenog, however there isn’t a lot known about St Gwenog, other than the fact she was an early Celtic Christian. Her saint day is the 3rd of January.

Jordan, Lee
Friend and conspirator of the Weasley twins; he has dreadlocks, and is Gryffindor student he's announcer for the Quidditch matches He kept a giant tarantula as a pet, when Harry first went to Hogwarts.

Jorkins, Bertha
Attended Hogwarts she was a few years older than Harry’s father James She was a bit of a tattle tale, and was hexed by a boy because he caught he spying on him and a girl called Florence. Worked in the Department of Magical Games and Sports until she went missing on her holiday to Albania, she was tortured and killed by Voldemort. She is one of the people brought back as a shade when Harry's wand fought with the Dark Lords.

Jugson,
A Death Eater, who may have been one of the ones sprung from Azkaban, he attacked Harry in the prophecy room by row ninety seven in the Ministry of magic.

July 31 1980
The date of Harry Potter's birth. 31 July is also the date of the breaking a Gringotts when dark wizards were after the You Know-What in vault seven hundred and thirteen.
